Holiday Works Are In The Works

I have a half dozen, if not more short stories coming out next month. Thanksgiving stories and Christmas stories. I will be posting trailers, my social media pages (not many, just two). I am taking a Coursera writing course now-if I haven't mentioned it-and other writing courses outside of  Coursera. So I have a lot going on. A WHOLE LOT going on, that I will not even mention right now until I know more, there is a lot on my plate right now.

I Am Very Much Determined....

I hope all of you, your familes and friends are safe and healthy during this strange time.  I live with my mom and sister and we are all okay.... BUT  the  day job I had for years is now gone. I was working at home  for two weeks and two days, in March, then I was called and told I had zero hours.

Now, I have always wanted to quit my day job. I have a college degree from Syracuse University, and have been accepting a low salary for years ( under $10K) because I could find nothing better. I had watched several employees-some just new hires,  get promotions in a few months time, while I who had tried many times got nothing. I won't go through all I had experienced there, that is not the point I want to make here today.

I had no way of getting anything better in my city, so along comes COVID-19 and now I am at home. Am I going stir crazy? No! I love being at home with my family, and now have the time to get all those  time consuming jobs and projects around the house and in the yard done. Most importantly,  I have the time to make the life of my dreams come true....to be a successfully published writer. I have sold ebooks,  yes, but not successfully. So now I have all the time in the world, and I am going to focus on one thing at a time, and get the job done!

While I wait for my first unemployment payment (you can guess how crazy that is..*eye roll*) I will be focusing on becomiing better and marketing my books.. I am so bad on keeping up with this blog but, I will post at least once a month to keep you posted.

Take care,  Stay home as much as you can and remember to wash your hands.

The Good, The Bad, And The....Well, You Know

Okay! Unfortunately getting into the Apex Authors was no go. A friend showed tried to help me get some people to sign up. ($1. trial. That's all) Only a few people looked, but didn't sign up. I guess everyone is making major book sales then since they didn't need them, right? I did need them, but since I couldn't stay a member because of no sign ups, I had to move on.

What I need is something that will sell that will take a day to do, or fun to create. In other words, short and Easy. SO...I have done 12 books that was hardly any work to put together, but now I have to start promoting, because no one will know they are there unless they accidentally happen to see it.
Part two, which I am starting this week, is to work on the 'fun' books and then I will have to start promoting them. The whole purpose of doing said books is to generate an income that comes in easily to give me oceans of time to work on my novels.

In the meantime, I have an Editor working on an old book, and I am working on new fiction books to publish to Kindle and later on, CreateSpace, etc. I am getting to the point that I need a change. Tired of the dayjob, want to wake up every morning and do what I want to do so I am actively pursuing what I have to do to get what I want in 2016.

What are these books that are fun and easy to publish? I will tell you(yes, I promise I will get back to you before next year, LoL.)I have promised a case study, so I will be publishing as each project is completed.

Kindle, Reviews And More

Well, my 'promotion' did not go well as I thought it would. Am I giving up? Hardly, but I'm going to do it differently this time. I've read, as well as have attended many webinars about how to sell books on Kindle, and I am starting to test out some of these strategies now. One important thing to note is that many of the books/courses I've read about selling on Kindle were, to put it nicely, bogus material.
It seems whenever a new way of making money online is discovered by people in the Internet Marketing community, they tend to want to crack a code of some sort to make more money with it, and then sell that course to you.
Well, a lot of things they told you were wrong. So I will be doing a series of Kindle articles, then I will start posting my tests and reveal the results. There is no magic in getting lots of Kindle sales, but as I said, that will all be revealed from today to the end of September 2012.
I have been winning books on Freado, and getting free books from publishers on NetGalley, so I probably have around fifty books to read and review. You should be getting at least a couple of book reviews each week from now on.
Apart from Kindle, I always look for other ways to sell books online, and I recently found a different way to sell books, so after I post my Kindle test results, I'll be posting that too. It's a way to sell that I don't think many writers think about. So be looking out for my next post soon. A book review, and the first Kindle article. I will not be writing about how to upload books to Kindle, it will strictly cover these subjects:
  • What You shouldn't sell on KDP
  • Formatting
  • Creating A Table of Contents
  • What Sells on Kindle
  • Analyzing the Best Selling Books On Kindle
  • Creating Book Covers
  • Best Free Ways To Promote Your Kindle Books
If I can think of anything else, I'll be sharing it with you. That's all for now.

Writing

Excuse me if I don't post for awhile. My first book is being edited and  while I wait for my editor to get back to me, I have to finish and go over the second one.  I'm also working on Kindle titles. I'm trying various promotion tips to see where it gets me and I will be posting my success with it in May, so be sure to tune in for that. I'll also be posting new book reviews-yes, I have been reading as well, whenever time permits, hopefully by the weekend.

November News

Okay, where have I been? Well in September my computer was
not working, and the tech people waited until the next month to
even bother to come and fix it, and didn't do such a great job,
because I had to ask the computer tech guy at my job what
I should do!
As you can see, I am back. I'm going to be making a lot of
changes to this blog. My book reviews are just going to be
on the websites I post them, which are Amazon, Goodreads,
and Shelfari, when I do, you'll see a link here to take you
to the page.
I will be a published author in 2012. I've signed a three
book deal with Desert Breeze Publishing. My first book
will be out in February, the second in September. So I
am busy writing, editing, etc.
So this blog will be all about my books, and books I
read. As for the writers tips, I am waiting until I see that
the marketing and promotion strategies I use work well,
and then I will start a group, sell a course, I am not sure
what until 2012. So There you have it! I have to go, and
keep stopping back and see the changes.

Rapid Publishing

O.K. the promotion of my ebook series did not go as planned :( so I am trying again in September. I have a revised version of Rapid Publishing that will be on Kindle as well. Having said that, books 1-4 will go on this month, and the last three will be in September. Instead of buy one get two free, it is going to be buy one get one free from now on with any book of the series. The free book will always be a pdf, not a kindle or Smashwords book.

After this, I will no longer be doing nonfiction books for writers. I'm working a lot now on my fiction books, three which have be contracted, yes I'm going to be published! More on that as the details are finalized.

News And Reviews

Well, my 'launch' for Rapid Publishing didn't go as I thought it would. I am going to have to do much more planning ahead and tell more than just two or three groups of people. However, I did get one glowing review of the ebook, so I'm hoping for more later on.  I will try again with the launch later this month when more of the ebooks are released. On the positive side,  I have written a 3 book Christian fiction series that  is going to be published! Yahoo!!! More on that, as things go under way. I have written a book review that you can check out anytime you want. Wreath by Judy Christie. I will try to put something on that page at least once a week. Twice when I have more time. Until next week....

This coming week(finally) Three of seven ebooks of the series will be released and the rest will be released each week and will be announced when available for sale.

Non Fiction EBook Series Out This Week

There will be a nonfiction ebook series that will be published this week on Kindle. It will also be sold on other online stores as well.  It is called Rapid Publishing. These books will be for people who want to make a living at writing, and those that want to make more money by selling more books. Though this is geared more towards indie publishing, there will also be some vital information for those who have publishers and/or agents. There are quite a few amazing websites for authors to promote their work. Some of these sites you can use free of charge, and you'll be surprised when you see them.

It will be affordable and offered on different formats, and all will be revealed this coming week. There will also be a contest, along with it. Meanwhile, I have and am still reading several books and will get to posting the reviews on Shelfari and Goodreads after awhile. So, back to my projects and look forward to the first installments of the Rapid Publishing series this week.

eBook Profits - Why a Free Sample Chapter Can Send Your Profits Soaring! (Part One)

Why should anyone give a sample chapter or mini-version of their book for free?  The main reason  -  usually to sell or make money  -  isn’t always accomplished at the front end of the marketing process, it often comes later, and brings profits way beyond your best expectations.

Here’s how and why to use the sample chapter technique to generate leads for your info product.

*  To test your idea for a new information product before spending days, weeks, months creating something nobody wants to buy.  If few people request the freebie, your product is almost certainly a no-goer, similarly if the freebie is popular but results in few or no paid-for orders.

*  The sample chapter can be a selling tool not only for its own full length paid-for version, but for other products too, where for example a list or catalogue of additional products is included with the giveaway item.  For instance, the first chapter of ‘The Way to a Man’s Heart: Cooking with Known Aphrodisiacs’ might generate interest in the paid-for version of the book and might additionally direct readers to web sites offering related info products, such as ‘1001 Ways to Be Romantic’, ‘How to Find the Man of Your Dreams’, and so on.  It pays to be careful, however, when including links for other people’s products, and ensure they do not detract from the real reason the sample chapter was given, namely to sell that cookery book.  As for all things in mail order, direct mail, online marketing, you must test response to all your promotions.

*  The first chapter can represent a ‘suck it and see’ guarantee to a product delivered in installments, such as correspondence courses, resell rights packages, and so on.  If Chapter One or Module One isn’t as expected, readers can cancel their post-dated standing order or request a refund of money already paid.

*  Sample chapters can be articles you’ve written for payment elsewhere, where copyright is yours, and the article or series of articles is expanded to book or course format.  A popular article is its own proof of a likely best selling book and you’ve probably completed most of the research already, and been paid for it.

News

Right now I can happily say that I have completed my
very first novel(romance), and two children's manuscripts.
One is poetry and the other a picture book. :) I do not know
which way I am going to go with it. I don't know whether
to try a major publisher or a small publisher. Still, I want
to have someone look at the novel to see if it's saleable.

Currently, though, I am working on three different books
for online publishers. I feel that I can get my books published
much faster this way. I have read several books in my genre and
have a feel for what the audience likes. One author who's book
that I purchased, was in print form. I was really shocked.
There was no editing done in the book.

There was so many typos that it would make your head spin!
The story itself was good, but it could have been much better
had the author taken the time to develop it more. Having said
that, that book sold many copies. I'm like, 'Hello'. If someone
could have a book like that in print and ebook form and still
have it sell....I could publish my books too and do a much better job!

I know I have talked about a much faster way to sell books, and
I was working on a case study, but I hit a snag. In order to sell
more books the better way, I need a printing service, and I can't find
one locally. I tried searching online, but so far, did not find one
to suit my needs, so I'm putting that on the back burner for awhile.

So there you have it. I will have a good freebie for you the next time!
